If you wash with soft water, you can expect your clothes to come out of the washing machine clean and fresh. With hard water, however, the result can be different, as the minerals in the hard water can bind to the detergent, which reduces its cleaning power. This is why detergents also contain water softeners in addition to the active washing substances, the surfactants. If you have hard water at home, you have to use more detergent for more water softener - and thus unintentionally use far more surfactants than necessary.
everdrop has found a solution to this problem: the water hardness concept. Our detergents are available in three variants - for soft, medium or hard water* - each with the required amount of water softener, while the proportion of surfactants remains the same. This avoids overdosing and thus unnecessary extra pollution of waste water and the environment. Up to 50% of unnecessary surfactants can be saved! ** We use plant-based and sustainably certified surfactants for our detergent. All our surfactants are biodegradable according to EU guidelines.
* You can easily find out how hard the water is in your area by entering your postcode when ordering detergent in our online shop.
** Compared to the reference formula of the German Association for Personal Care and Detergents (IKW) for regular powder detergent for medium water hardness and medium soiling.
